On 15th January 2022 the Welsh Government announced the implementation of the long-awaited Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016.
The Act is due to be implemented on 15th July 2022 and involves the most fundamental change to residential property lettings for the last 34 years. Tenancies will be called Occupation Contracts and tenants will be called Contract Holders. The changes include the replacement of tenancy agreements with occupation contracts, different notices and “Fitness for Human Habitation” requirements.
