Why clients will see an increase in Land Registry Fees this December

For the first time in over a decade the Land Registry has increased its fees. As of 9 December 2024, the Land Registry is in some cases almost doubling its fees for information documents that are vital to any conveyancing transaction.

With Title Registers, plans and supporting transfers increasing from £3 to £7. With lender requirement documents (Official Search of Whole) also increasing from £3 to £7. With a hike in paper copies of the above to £11 per copy.

This increased cost will directly affect clients who will see the inflated fees on their completion statements, invoices and quotes. With the average sale file requiring at minimum a Register and Plan the clients will see an increase from £6 to £14.

HM Land Registry has advised that the reason for the increase is to support their service improvement, increase automation and assist with rising running costs.

Here at Dudden Law Solicitors we would like to remind our clients that they will see this increase on new files and existing files if any of these documents are required towards the end of the transaction.
